Insufficient West African Rains Spark Short Covering in Cocoa Futures

March ICE NY cocoa (CCH25) today is up +414 (+4.26%), and March ICE London cocoa #7 (CAH25) is up +242 (+3.10%).

Cocoa prices today are sharply higher as insufficient rain in West Africa sparked short covering in cocoa futures.  Cocoa farmers in the Ivory Coast and Ghana, the world's two biggest cocoa-producing countries, said rain over the past two weeks has been insufficient for tree regeneration and flowering.
