All the reporting on C.J. Stroud dropping in the draft away from the Texans proved to truly be smoke after all. The Houston Texans selected the Ohio State signal caller with the second overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft.
Stroud was a two-time Heisman finalist with a truly elite campaign with Ohio State. Over the last two seasons Stroud dominated, putting up 85 touchdowns during that span, including a dominant game against the eventual national champion Georgia Bulldogs that proved he could move and make plays outside of the pocket.
Stroud is an elite thrower of the football and has the best accuracy of any quarterback in the class. His decision-making, coolness in the pocket, and consistent rhythm passing will serve him well at the next level. He will be an instant starter in Houston and can be the franchise quarterback the Texans have been looking for.
