Instagram to alert parents over teens’ self-harm searches

Instagram has announced that it will begin alerting parents if their children repeatedly search for terms related to suicide or self-harm on the platform.

The Meta-owned platform confirmed on Thursday that parents using Instagram's optional child supervision tools would receive the alerts, as pressure mounts on governments to regulate social media use for under-16s.
