'Inspirational headteacher' died a year after going to doctors 'with a stitch'

The husband of an "inspirational headteacher" who died after going to the doctors with a "stitch like pain" said she was "like a light that never goes out".

Ros Atkins, 43, died on October 3, 2022, one year after being diagnosed with stage four terminal bowel cancer.

The Weston Primary School headteacher, from Gateacre, was on holiday with her husband John and their daughter Maggie, then six, in Scotland when she first started experiencing pain in the right side of her body which felt like a stitch.
