We might not have a firm Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release date yet, but Insomniac narrowed it down a bit with a release time frame. Spider-Man 2 will launch on PS5 sometime in fall 2023. That narrows it down a bit, since previously, we only knew it was slated for 2023 in general.
The news comes in a new PlayStation Blog post, where Insomniac’s creative director, Bryan Intihar, also shared a brief message.
“What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall.”
Spider-Man 2 takes place after Insomniac’s first web-slinging game and the Miles Morales half-sequel, starring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face a new set of threats to the city.
That’s about it for new updates, though. Insomniac didn’t let slip any new details about Spider-Man 2. There’s no new trailer yet and no indication when PlayStation might share more details, but with the PS5’s lineup looking rather slim for the first part of the year, a showcase or some other deep dive into the publisher’s plans is looking increasingly more likely as we head into 2023.
Meanwhile, you can catch a glimpse of Insomniac’s take on Spider-Man in the upcoming Across the Spider-Verse movie.
