Insider Trading: Blue Eyed Kayla Jade On A-Listers, OnlyFans & The Realities Of Sex Work

Kayla Jade, perhaps better known by her handle Blue Eyed Kayla Jade, is one of the most well-known sex workers out there.

Making her start on OnlyFans well before it became the powerhouse platform we know today, Kayla quickly moved from home videos to sex work. She recently released a tell-all book, Call-Girl Confidential, taking fans through the stories that didn’t make their FYPs and giving them a glimpse behind the curtain to see who she really is.

Kayla sat down with PEDESTRIAN.TV as a part of our Insider Trading series, P.TV’s career-focused column. When asked what her job title is or which industry she saw herself in, Kayla struggled to pick one because, truthfully, she’s blazed her own path at the forefront of sexually liberated content, occupying a unique niche as both a sex worker and influencer.

Instead, she took us through the ins and outs of her career journey, breaking down the realities of sex work, from the amazing people in the industry to the hardships you may not expect. All while dressed in a robe, with a client inbound.

What has the reception to the book been like?

It’s been really great. So many people have been commenting like, ‘I love your book’. It’s been nice to hear from the followers that they really enjoyed it. It was nerve-wracking because I’m putting a lot about my personal life and my upbringing out there, but now the response has been good.

You mention an A-lister in your book. Are we talking like Met Gala level?

I didn’t see them there, but I’ve only seen little clips online of some people’s dresses and stuff, so I haven’t really delved deep. But yeah, definitely been to A Met Gala.

What is it about you that makes you able to share so much of yourself with strangers?

I guess I kind of grew up, like, being a people-pleaser in a way, and worrying about what people thought of me. And I guess I just got to a point in my life where I didn’t care anymore. And I was just like, I want to share information, sort of destigmatise the industry a little bit, and even talk about women’s health. When I was growing up, periods and things like that weren’t really talked about, or sexual health wasn’t really talked about. So, I like sharing that stuff on there, and hopefully someone might get something out of it.

Speaking of, can you tell us anything about what you’re up to after this interview?

I’m seeing a three-hour booking after this with a guy. I actually haven’t seen him before, but he says he’s been like a fan since forever. He quoted some videos from early way back, and I’m like, ‘wow, you have been on my page for a while’. I haven’t actually met him, but we did have a phone call yesterday and now he’s coming straight after this.

That’s why I’m in the robe, I was getting ready really quickly before our interview. I feel like I’m living so many lives at the moment because it’s like the interviews, the book, and then I’m still seeing clients. So, it’s navigating everything. But I love to live in the chaos. I really like it when things are chaotic.

What was the preparation for today for this client, if you don’t mind me asking?

So I landed in Melbourne. I went to an interview at another place and then I came home. I already have my makeup on, so I curled my hair. After this, I will jump in the shower and I will prepare the room.

Usually, if it’s like a longer booking, I try to have some food or something, but maybe we’ll go down and get something to eat. I mean, the more time downstairs, the better. Then he arrives, he pays the remainder of the money that he owes, then he jumps in the shower, and it’s game time.

And what’s your favourite part about your job, do you think?

The people that I meet in this industry, the other sex workers that I’ve met before, like Honey Brooks and Hannah Williams, people who are just outspoken for the industry. I love it. I’ve met some of my best friends in this industry. I love it. And it’s been incredible, sharing it with everyone online.

What’s the most unhinged thing that’s happened to you at work?

How unhinged do we want to go? So I would say not that I’ve seen, but it might be a bit too much, maybe just I guess I’ve been exposed to a few, I talk in the book about the A-Lister and there were a lot of sex parties and things like that.

I guess seeing live sex shows and being part of a live sex show was a very interesting experience. And I guess doing these sex shows in front of people that I idolised as a kid, that was crazy.

Speaking of your work and your industry, what are your thoughts on OnlyFans at the moment? Do you feel it’s changed since you were coming up on the platform?

I feel like a lot of people think it’s like this thing that’s going to make you quit cash very quickly, but the stats are the majority of OnlyFans creators make less than minimum wage. I feel like the media sensationalises it a little bit, and it’s like OnlyFans creators make so much money, but really, that’s not the case.

I think a lot of online stuff, especially with the manosphere, I guess you’ve got to do some critical thinking and think, is this really the case? Are they really making this much money? I guess in the age of social media, a lot of it is fake, so just be mindful of that. It’s a scary time in a way, with everything coming out, I think people can easily be manipulated.

Do you feel fortunate for joining OnlyFans when you did?

I think so, yeah. It was very much less saturated back then. I feel like it was easier to make money. I think it’s a lot harder these days. I think now if you were to start out, you’d probably have to already have a following or have a name for yourself.

I guess if you are going into it, just be mindful and be like, ‘am I going to be okay if I put this stuff out there, make zero money, and [and have] my p*** on the internet forever?’ Because it can potentially be the case.

Is that your advice for people considering OnlyFans?

I think so. And I think have it as a last resort, because it could potentially affect your career long term, it could affect your relationships. I’ve lost relationships from being in this industry. You just have to ask yourself, are you going to be okay with that if that were the case?

What is it that you want people to take away from the book?

I guess that sex workers are real people and they have real lives, and I feel like some people have this idea in their head of what sex workers are. We’re just real people, just making a buck. It’s a job for us.
