Oh You Pretty Things is located in the heart of the Trafford Centre and easily stands out due to its Instagrammable aesthetic. Having passed it many times, I always wondered what it would be like to stop and enjoy a drink there while shoppers dashed by.
It certainly has a nice chill vibe and a really convenient place to put your feet up after a long day running around one of the country's largest shopping malls.
I expected the demographic of the place to be for a younger audience due to its modern and vibrant look, but after a quick look around it was obvious it was a bar for people of all ages who had the same idea as myself.
If you’re not an alcohol drinker, or you have young children with you, Oh You Pretty Things also serve mocktails, milkshakes and smoothies, making their menu rather inclusive.
There are both bar stools and big booths which are perfect for big groups - or if you are inundated with shopping bags.
The menu is quite extensive and is divided up into categories such as Pretty Premium, Pretty Sweet, Pretty Popular, Pretty Classy and Pretty Refreshing.
The prices of the cocktails ranged from around £9 to more premium prices which start from £12.50 - so I would definitely say most of the drinks were what you would expect to pay for a cocktail and there is something for everyone within the price range.
They even had cocktail trees which you could choose to have as Pornstar Martinis or a nice nod to Manchester, Juicy Vimtos.
These would be ideal for a group of friends out for a special occasion such as a birthday, and with the tree you get six cocktails for £75 or 12 for £150 - split evenly between the group, it’s pretty much the price of one cocktail, but the tree is definitely a novelty worth snapping a picture of.
There’s no denying that the drinks themselves are picture perfect, and look too good to drink. Some garnishes on their cocktails include sweets, lollipops and candy floss - so if you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you.
I got to try out a range of their cocktails, two that were created with Mancs in mind.
Juicy Vimto
The Juicy Vimto is a refreshing glass of Vimto with an adult twist. It’s a total thirst quencher and the alcohol doesn’t take away from the juicy flavour. This drink is beautifully coloured and was topped off with candy floss on top, which I rather enjoyed snacking away on. 8/10
Manchester Tart
Another Manchester drink set on the menu is the Manchester Tart. This was an absolute 10/10 and the best cocktail I tried. Conjured up from Bacardi coconut, raspberry liquor and several other tropical flavours, the mix was not too sweet and quite rich tasting with a burst of raspberry from the garnish.
Bubblegum Daiquiri
If sweet is your thing, the Bubblegum Daiquiri is definitely for you. While I found it a tad sweet for my liking, there’s no denying the Summery burst of bubblegum when you taste this drink. It was really refreshing and made from AU Bubblegum vodka, bubblegum syrup, apple juice and lime juice, topped off with bubblegum sweets. 7/10
Lychee and Rose Daiquiri
The elegant rose and lychee cocktail is the perfect pretty in pink drink. The egg white gives it a velvety taste and taste like a middle eastern dream. 8/10
Overall, the drinks definitely taste like what they're meant to. They’re very aptly named so there is no confusion as to what to expect.
The staff were super obliging and from my experience, it is well worth a post shopping spree pit stop.
