Inside the Queen's £62k buggy that's been dubbed the 'Rolls Royce' of golf carts

Royal fans were delighted when it was confirmed the Queen would be attending this year's Chelsea Flower Show.

And she rolled into the show ground at the Royal Chelsea Hospital and toured the gardens in style - by riding in a top of the range £62,000 electric golf buggy dubbed the "Queen Mobile".

It is known that the 96-year-old monarch has been suffering from mobility problems of late, but it is believed that the flower show is one of her favourite events to visit.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that adjustments to the visit had been made "for the Queen's comfort" - and it's just the third time she has been pictured riding in a buggy.

However, it appears the vehicle the Queen used yesterday was no ordinary buggy - the model is reportedly known as the "Rolls Royce" of premium golf carts.

The six-seater vehicle is built by Danish manufacturer Daria and according to the Sun, has a top speed of 42mph.

It has a range of 50 miles before it needs charging and comes complete with 14 inch alloy wheels.

The buggy also comes equipped with " weather enclosure" doors meaning it can be used all year around and its cream leather seats are also capable of reclining.

When it comes to gadgets, there is a 10 inch tablet screen in the front that has maps and weather updates and a fridge should Her Majesty need a snack while riding in it.

It also boasts cup holders, a heated windscreen and even Bluetooth speakers.

During yesterday's appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show, the Queen sat in the back and was driven around by a chauffeur in a peaked cap, from the monarch’s staff.

Keith Weed, president of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) which stages the event, sat beside the Queen and gave her a running commentary of the many gardens she stopped to view and introduced her to gardeners and sponsors.

Juliet Sargeant was stood beside her design for the new BBC Blue Peter garden as she chatted to Her Majesty, and said later about her visit by buggy: “It’s great, the same with anybody with mobility issues it’s just great to find a way to do what you love.

“And, as we’ve been told, she loves gardens and it’s a great way for her to be able to pursue her passion.”

The buggy made its public debut as other members of the royal family toured the site at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London by foot, including Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex and Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Sat at the rear with their backs to the Queen was the RHS president’s wife Kate Weed and a lady-in-waiting who held a number of bouquets.

It was reported in March that the Queen had taken delivery of one of these electric carts at Windsor Castle, so she can continue to walk her beloved dogs.

After it arrived at the castle, aides reportedly sat the Queen's pet next to her in the buggy as they went for a brief spin around the castle's grounds.
