Inside the life of mob boss Daniel Kinahan - where he's hiding, wife and wealth

Senior members of the Kinahan cartel have become world news after the crime group was hit with sanctions from the US as part of international action to clamp down on its activities.

Earlier this month, the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued the order against the ' Kinahan Organized Crime Group' .

The order was issued against seven of the group's key members, including Christopher Kinahan Senior, Daniel Kinahan , Christopher Kinahan Junior, and three associated businesses.

A reward of up to $5 million is being offered for information that could lead to the group's dismantling.

But who is Daniel Kinahan?

Up until the age of 25, Kinahan, the eldest son of Christy Kinahan - a well-known criminal - led a relatively anonymous life and had never come to the attention of the gardaí, apart from a conviction for driving offences.

He finally began to show up on gardai's radar after he was arrested along with four others in connection with an attack on two gardai outside Shelbourne Park greyhound stadium in May 2001.

Kinahan was charged with assault and initially refused bail by Dublin District Court that July, but the charges were dropped the following January.

By 2009, Kinahan was taking an active part in his father's business which was described as a suspected international drug-trafficking figure in a diplomatic cable sent from a US embassy in South America to the Pentagon in Washington.

For years authorities have tried to put an end to the huge criminal organisation but had little luck until recent months.

Kinahan's long time close associate Thomas' Bomber' Kavanagh, was jailed for 21 years after importing cocaine and cannabis worth more than €36m earlier this month.

And on Tuesday, the Kinahan cartel was dealt another major blow after a €1 million mansion in Saggart, Dublin, which was linked with the criminal cartel and owned by businessman Jim Mansfield Jr was seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

Kinahan has been living in Dubai for a number of years now as he tries to evade law enforcement agencies across Europe and has been trying to build a reputation as one of boxing's most influential promoters.

Where is Daniel Kinahan hiding?

Daniel Kinahan has been living in Dubai for the last number of years. However, sources have claimed that the mob boss's time in the desert is coming to an end.

Kinahan , along with leaders of his cartel, were hit with massive sanctions by the United Arab Emirates, which has seen both business and personal accounts frozen.

Daniel Kinahan's marriage to Caoimhe Robinson

Kinahan has managed to keep much of his personal relationships secret, with little known about his wife, Caoimhe Robinson.

In May 2017, he married his Dublin-born partner Caoimhe in a lavish wedding bash in the oil-rich Middle Eastern city with some of the world's most sinister drug barons and criminal gang leaders in attendance.

The wedding took place at the seven-star Burj al Arab in Dubai and was a focal point for investigators.

It was the second time tying the knot for Kinahan, who was previously married, but the couple separated in 2014.

How much is Daniel Kinahan worth?

The US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) compiled a dossier on the wedding party following the luxurious wedding. According to leaked documents, it is estimated that the gangsters had together imported over €23 billion worth of cocaine into Europe.

The DEA documents sent to Dutch police identified Imperiale, Taghi, Bosnian criminal Edin Gacanin, Richard' El Rico' Vega and Daniel Kinahan as the heads of a super drug cartel.

Kinahan himself is thought to be one of the wealthiest criminals in the world thanks to growing his father's drug cartel.
