Inside the hidden city farm spread across 24 acres of Rice Lane

Between County Road and Walton Vale you’ll find Rice Lane, a place that many people know of or have passed through over the years.

But perhaps lesser known is that hidden along the road is that it is home to one of the only urban areas in the region to have a farm. The city farm is spread across 24 acres and boasts many farmyard animals including "rare" breeds such as Ryeland sheep and Berkshire pigs.

Rice Lane City Farm was established more than 40 years ago by the local community on the site of the old Walton cemetery. On the grounds there’s a grade II listed chapel and café, an adventure playground and of course the many animals.
