Inside the fairy tale coach house up for grabs

A Victorian coach house on Merseyside has gone on the market, giving potential buyers the opportunity to breathe new life into the charming property.

Known as Tynron Cottage, the property on West Road in the Birkenhead suburb of Noctorum was commissioned by the Dempster family in 1882. It was converted into a detached dwelling a number of years ago and boasts four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The grounds to the front include a sweeping driveway complete with a detached double garage.

The coach house has a number of original features, including pine floor boards, hay loft doors, a blacksmith's grate and wrought iron work, as well as a tower and weather vane.

It also has a multitude of quirks, starting with the wrought iron spiral staircase that takes centre stage in the entrance hallway. The kitchen is uniquely shaped with lots of windows and a panelled raked ceiling.

Elsewhere on the ground floor is a dining room and two cost reception rooms, which all have their own interesting characteristics such as exposed beams, arched windows and stone fireplaces.

Upstairs houses four bedrooms, the largest of which has its own en-suite and built in wardrobes. The family bathroom is also a decent size and features a corner bath unit.

To the rear of the first floor is a huge balcony spanning the width of the property. Access is provided via two of the bedrooms. It's the perfect spot to sit and take in the beautiful grounds and mature trees which offer lots of greenery and coverage.

Tynron Cottage is on the market for £600,000 and is being marketed by Brennan Ayre O'Neill.

In their listing, the estate agent said the house is "ready for a second injection of love and care" to "realise the opportunities that lie within".

Properties on West Road sold for an average of £450,000 over the last year.
