Inside Soap Awards winners list in full as EastEnders wins biggest prize of the night

It's been a huge night for the cast and crew of EastEnders after the show scooped Best Soap at The Inside Soap Awards.

As well as the London-based programme piping the likes of rivals Coronation Street and Emmerdale to the post, Albert Square star Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, also won the All-Time Icon award.

More than 90,000 votes were cast in her favour, leading to her being called up onto the stage to be given a huge gold trophy.

Inside Soap editor Gary Gillatt said: "As a six-time winner of our Best Actress prize, it’s perhaps no surprise that Lacey takes home our All-Time Icon award.

"Ever since her EastEnders debut in 2004, Lacey’s heartfelt performance as Stacey Slater – taking her from troubled teenager to lion-hearted young mum – has touched soap fans everywhere. Long may it continue!"

Her co-star Gillian Wright, was awarded Best Actress for her performance as Jean Slater and Heather Peace (Eve Unwin) bagged Best Newcomer.

Gillian was also praised for her performance in Jean’s trip to Southend while in the grip of her bipolar disorder, winning her Best Showstopper.

Stefan Dennis won Best Daytime Star for his role as Paul Robinson in Neighbours (Getty Images)

It was also bittersweet for the cast of Neighbours, who won Best Daytime soap, months after the show broadcast its last ever episode in July.

Stefan Dennis, who plays Ramsay Street baddie Paul Robinson, won the award for Best Daytime Star.

The awards celebrated their 30 years of Inside Soap magazine with an in-person event after two years as a virtual ceremony.

Mark Charnock won Best Actor for his portrayal of Marlon Dingle (Getty Images)

Emmerdale, which celebrated 50 years this week, also did very well after Mark Charnock won Best Actor for his portrayal of Marlon Dingle's recovery from a debilitating stroke.

This was also named Best Storyline, as well as Marlon's relationship with Rhona Dingle ( Zoe Henry ) winning Best Romance.

Meanwhile, Paige Sandhu was awarded Best Villain for the second year in a row, for her performance as Emmerdale serial killer Meena Jutla.

Coronation Street’s Dame Maureen Lipman won Best Comic Performance (ITV)

Coronation Street, which won a huge number of awards last year, did have some victories.

Maureen Lipman was awarded Best Comic Performance for her role as Evelyn Plummer.

There was a case of sibling rivalry after Isabella Flanagan beat her older sister Amelia Flanagan in the Best Young Performance category for her role as Hope Stape.

Hollyoaks’ Anna Passey and Kieron Richardson were named Best Double Act as Sienna Blake and Ste Hay.

"An even spread of wins across Britain’s favourite TV shows is testament to a great year of soap,” commented Inside Soap editor Gary Gillatt.

"It’s interesting to see, after a host of ambitious, stunt-packed episodes, that it was the more human-scale dramas and performance that really won through – with Marlon’s story in Emmerdale, and Jean’s in EastEnders.

"That said, fans also enjoyed their slice of murderous mayhem from Emmerdale’s Meena, too!"
