Simon Cowell has shunned ‘ghastly’ wedding planners as he prepares to tie the knot with fiancée Lauren Silverman.
The 62-year-old music and TV mogul has been in a relationship with the American socialite since 2013, when news of their affair went public as it was confirmed Lauren was pregnant with their first child, son Eric.
She filed for divorce from businessman husband Andrew Silverman shortly afterwards, and Simon and Lauren have been loved up ever since.
Despite ruling out ever walking down the aisle, the Britain's Got Talent judge stunned Lauren when he got down on one knee while they were enjoying a family holiday in Barbados over Christmas last year.
Simon has remained coy over the details of his wedding, which is reportedly set to take place in London next month, but has already taken control of organising the star-studded nuptials, which is set to be one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year.
Shunning “ghastly” wedding planners, he said he would be “planning it all”, and will be a hands-on groom when it comes to their big day.
“I am planning it all, otherwise I know what will happen - there will be 600 people and it'll get out of control, like my 50th birthday party,” he told The Sun.
And Simon has some surprises up his sleeve for his bride-to-be, as he even teased the possibility of not letting her know the date of their nuptials.
“No one knows when it's going to be - that'll be a surprise, even for Lauren,” he joked.
There will be “no arguments” over the guest list, as Simon has said he will be inviting whoever he likes, and has a laid back approach to the wedding, as it “seems like too much hassle”.
Their son Eric, 8, will be front and centre at their wedding, alongside Lauren’s son Adam, 16, who she shares with her ex-husband.
Famous faces including Simon’s fellow Britain's Got Talent judges Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon are expected to be on the guest list, as well as Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
It’s not known if Simon’s pal Paula Abdul will be flying in from the US to join the festivities, or if his ex Sinitta will be celebrating with the happy couple.
