Tommy Tiernan is back on our screens this weekend with his hit RTE chat show .
The Tommy Tiernan Show has been a huge success since it launched in 2017, and the comedian has seen a revival in his career. He has recently starred in TV show Derry Girls and also launched a successful podcast.
But for a man who is loved across the country, his personal life has remained fairly private. Here is what we know about Tommy's life including his marriage to wife Yvonne and painful family split.

Tommy, who grew up in Navan, Co. Meath, has been married to his wife Yvonne since 2009 and the couple share three children. He has three more children from his previous relationship with Jayme Street.
Speaking previously to the Irish Independent about his family set-up, Tommy said: “It's not familiar, put it that way. Most people in the country grew up in one family. Each of the families I'm connected to would regard themselves as self-contained families.
“I'm not at the head, the mothers are at the head, I'm more like the mischievous lieutenant, whom people don't really trust or listen to. Family life just happens in front of you and you can't control it."
While Tommy's podcast "Tommy, Hector and Laurita" is well known in Ireland, his wife Yvonne also has her own podcast called "The Couch with Yvonne Tiernan". Yvonne works as psychotherapist and counsellor in Galway.
Like her husband, she enjoys taking to the stage. She is a singer with folk band The Raines.
She once wrote for the Irish Examiner: “One thing I do know for certain is that I couldn’t love the man I married any more than I do and I am a much better person for being married to him. My husband Tommy is one of the most generous people I know. Not just in a material way, but with his time and his loyalty."
While Tommy now lives a happy family life, many years ago he was rocked by a painful split. The actor has three children with former long-term girlfriend Jayme Street.
Speaking back in 2019 to Sunday Independent’s Life magazine, he spoke candidly about feeling "lost" when his first family broke up.
“I don’t think I’ve ever recovered from splitting up with my first family. That’s always a tough thing," he explained. "Once you move into uncharted territory, it’s tough, and for my generation we were the first Irish generation who have got divorced.
"We had no map. You do feel lost.
"I wish I had more confidence in it - in the decision itself. And I wish I had more confidence in the new situation - how to be a father who is not living full-time with his children.”
The Tommy Tiernan Show will air on RTE One this Saturday January 7 at 9:40pm.
