Former England and Manchester United star Wes Brown was recently declared bankrupt at the High Court.
The footballer and his wife Leanne Wassell - with who he recently split - lived in a lavish five-bedroom Mobberley mansion before they put it up for sale a couple of years ago.
It was recently reported that the two went their separate ways after 12 years of marriage - before the footballer was declared bankrupt.
The couple, who have three children, had tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Peckforton Castle near Tarporley, Cheshire, in 2009.
The family lived at the sprawling property, complete with a swimming pool and open-plan living room, before making the decision to put it on the market for a whopping £4.75 million.
Fans of the Real Housewives of Cheshire might recognise the house due to its unique features and spacious grounds.
Their home was built with exposed wooden beams and impossibly high ceilings throughout.
It also has high windows that bring in a lot of natural light. The glass panelling gave the family the opportunity to admire the view of the pool and the garden.
Leanne and Wes got to enjoy the spacious swimming pool and gigantic living room.
They decorated the living room with a lot of grey-tone furniture, including L-shaped couches, gigantic rugs and a flat-screen TV.
One specific room looked unique with grey carpeting, purple crushed velvet rounded sofa and bedazzled nude statues.
Wes and Leanne had the perfect couple's bathroom with two bathtubs, two showers and two sinks.
They lived in the home before HMRC filed a bankruptcy petition against the former Red Devils defender, who earned £50,000 a week at Old Trafford, on February 27 this year.
Meanwhile, Leanne and Wes are believed to have secretly split in 2021, with news of their breakup emerging last year.
Leanne removed her wedding ring and Wes moved out of the home they shared with their three children.
Wes' bankruptcy comes after details of Leanne's intense feud with Dawn Ward were reported.
A few years ago, t he former pals famously got embroiled in a feud over money.
Leanne and Wes called in lawyers over a £500,000 loan that Dawn and her husband Ashley had reportedly not repaid.
In 2018, their legal teams have continued to deal with the issue.
A year later, a source claimed that Leanne decided to write off the debt.
"She’s written off the money – effectively kissed goodbye to £500,000," they claimed.
