Inside Rachel Stevens' horror fall as she's forced to miss first week of Dancing On Ice

Rachel Stevens has opened up about the horror fall which will mean she has to miss the first week of Dancing On Ice.

The S Club 7 star was really looking forward to taking to the ice this weekend, but in training before Christmas, she suffered a horror fall which has left her with a fractured wrist and unable to perform.

She will now take to the ice for the first time in week 3 on January 30 and she detailed the extent of her injury, as she admitted her "frustration" at not being able to skate with the other celebs this weekend.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: "I actually wasn't with Brendyn at the time of the fall.

"I was with my coach a couple of weeks before Christmas. I fell quite a few times, obviously as you do - you're trying to push yourself out of your comfort zone. And I just fell and it hurt and obviously I didn't know what I'd done."

Rachel went on to reveal how she'd still been working hard to keep fit before she gets a chance to step back on the ice.

"But after that I had an incredible support, went and got an X-ray done. I've had amazing medical advice from the team and it's healing really really well. I'm so grateful to still be in it and a part of it," she said.

"We're working super hard off ice so fingers crossed, I can get on really really soon. I can't wait to get back on the ice, it's been so frustrating. But we've doing all we can to keep fit before I can get on."

The singer has found it "scary" and "frustrating" not being able to train like the others.

"It's definitely been scary. This happened at the beginning of December, so once I knew what had happened, I was just so grateful that I knew I could stay in the show and still be a part of it. It's definitely been a process and I've had my wobbles for sure," she said.

"When I take on something, I want to give it my all and I really care about doing the best I can. It's been frustrating and scary. But at the same time, Brendan has been so amazing and the team around me have been so supportive.

"I've had so much great medical advice and support and we've just done everything off ice to do all we can. We've been working on core strength, stamina, balance and all of those things - just making the best of what we've got and working so hard. And fingers crossed when I get back on, I can just give it my everything and get back on it."

Rachel's injury was confirmed earlier in the day.

A spokesperson for the show said: "Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday's show. We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend."
