The owner of a fascinating bookshop in Nottinghamshire vows her store is like 'magic' to the children who visit. Wonderland Bookshop, on Carolgate, is completely themed around Lewis Caroll's famous story Alice in Wonderland - also featuring an upside-down tea party on the ceiling.
The shop in Retford, then known as the Barrister in Wonderland, opened back in May 2019 as the sister bookshop of the Barrister’s Book Chamber in Retford, selling second-hand children’s books for as little as £3, reports Lincolnshire Live. After working a part-time job a day or two a week at the bookshop, Helen Tamblyn-Saville took the business on after hearing it was going to close.
She added: "They announced that they were going to move to Matlock in Derbyshire, but I felt that Retford could support a bookshop. I've always had a secret dream of owning a bookshop since I was little.
