Newcastle United's first visit to the Etihad Stadium came way back in the 2003/04 season and set the tone for Premier League away days around Eastlands.
It was May 2004 when Paulo Wanchope's goal just ahead of the hour mark settled a drab game at City's new residence after they'd left Maine Road and located at their new home. Wanchope's header - which came before City were mega-rich - secured a win that put the home side six points clear of the relegation zone and dented Sir Bobby Robson's hopes of getting back to the Champions League.
Even before City were taken over by Middle East supremo Sheikh Mansour, the much-maligned Magpies couldn't manage a Premier League win. A couple of patchy draws and some shocking defeats would follow that first visit.

And some of the club's lowest Premier League moments also came at this ground in the early days, firstly a 3-0 defeat which saw Graeme Souness manage his last game for the club in 2006. That evening the sight of Lee Clark and Scott Parker colliding with each other proved to be the moment Freddy Shepherd decided Souness' time was up before swiftly replacing him with Glenn Roeder.
In 2009, Andy Carroll may have scored a big goal in his early career but a 2-1 defeat put Newcastle on the brink of relegation under Joe Kinnear. This was the night in which Kinnear wrongly name Charles N'Zogbia "Insomnia" at his post-game Press conference.
The awful away days at City continued when, after promotion in 2010, Hatem Ben Arfa broke his leg after just eight minutes after a challenge with Nigel De Jong. Chris Hughton's team were beaten 2-1 that day.
In the 2011/12 season, Newcastle suffered their first defeat of the campaign after starting unbeaten in 11 games. But a 3-1 win for the now oil-rich Citizens set them on their way to win their first title.
It was 4-0 to City twice in 2013 with the latter defeat proving to be the first game of Kinnear's second coming, this time as director of football. A mess of the field and a mess on it as City fans chanted: "We've got Sheikh Mansour and you've got Joe Kinnear" at the travelling supporters from Tyneside.
The only bit of enjoyment for Newcastle fans at this stadium has come outside the Premier League and in the Capital One Cup back in 2014. That night Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko secured a 2-0 win over Man City as the home side left some of their stars on the bench.
Later that season Newcastle were beaten 5-0 in the Prem as Sergio Aguero started the rout from the spot and continued his goal rush against the black and whites. Aguero managed 14 goals in total against Newcastle in just 12 games.
But he reserved his most punishing afternoon for Steve McClaren in 2015 as City ran out 6-1 winners. Aleksandar Mitrovic clearly rattled City as Newcastle went ahead but the Argentina star scored FIVE goals in a painful rout.
Sergio helped himself to another hat-trick after Newcastle had spent a season in the Championship but returned to get their usual dose of Manchester misery in a 3-1 loss for Rafa Benitez. The former Real Madrid manager parked the bus in 2018 but it ended in a 2-1 defeat.
American defender DeAndre Yedlin is the last Newcastle player to score in this fixture over half a decade ago. Since then Steve Bruce endured a 5-0 beating during lockdown and an awful 2-0 defeat on Boxing Day later in 2020 ended with the ex-boss firing shots at journalists and accusing them of hysteria after the loss to Brentford days earlier.
And that brings us right up to date with the last visit ending in a 5-0 defeat against City under Eddie Howe. In total it's 18 Premier League visits and no wins for Newcastle.
Wanchope didn't know what he'd started 19 years ago for Newcastle! But records are there to be broken.
