Celebrity couple Lily Allen and David Harbour surprised fans when they announced that they had got married.
The singer-songwriter, 37, and the actor, 47 - who is best known for playing Jim Hopper in Netflix 's Stranger Things - tied the knot in Las Vegas two and a half years ago, after meeting thanks to celebrity dating app Raya.
The couple - who are understood to have been in a relationship since 2019 - posted about the wedding at the time, including having shared photos from the occasion.
And fans have since been given glimpses into their life together as a married couple since getting hitched, including Lily having discussed their home in New York City.
Proposal and wedding
David previously revealed that him and Lily became engaged shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic. He shared this detail during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2021.
He recalled a moment that he suggested had inspired him to propose. He said it was whilst he was spending time with Lily and her daughters Ethel, now 11, and Marnie, now 10.
The actor told chat show host Jimmy Kimmel, now 55, that the family had been on a bicycle ride when Lily's youngest daughter expressed confusion over what to call David.
David said: "She was going like 'David! Dad! Dav ... Dad!'" He said she had been "confused" and added that his future wife's eldest daughter said: "He's not our dad".
He said whilst on the show that Marnie had subsequently asked: "What is he?" David told Jimmy that her older sibling responded: "Just... he's just some guy in our lives!"
David suggested that it inspired him to propose to Lily. He explained on the chat show: "And I was like, 'I need to marry this woman because of the emotional fallout'."
The actor teased that he has since been referred to by them as "still some guy in [their] lives" and added: "That's the favourite thing I've ever been called".
Lily and David subsequently got married in September 2020. They confirmed the nuptials at the time, with them both sharing photos from the special occasion with fans.
The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas. It was revealed by groom David that it had been officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator in the city.
The bride later revealed that she had actually only bought her understated but elegant mini dress on the day of the wedding, as reported previously by the Independent.
David revealed that the newlyweds - who were joined by Lily's daughters at the wedding - had a "small reception," which included burgers and fries from a fast food chain.
New York 'clown house' home
The couple have a townhouse in Brooklyn. It's showcased in the latest issue of Architectural Digest, with the home featuring in the March edition of the monthly magazine.
The property - which they have renovated - features a number of different styles, including both floral and muted wallpaper, pastel furniture and patterned carpets.
Lily - who has given glimpses of the property on Instagram in recent months - told the outlet: "My kids call [it] the clown house [...] but they say it in the most loving way."
David - whose credits also include roles in films like Hellboy (2019) and Black Widow (2021) - described his wife's taste in interior design as "bold," "eccentric" and "fun".
Lily said she's "always done [her] own homes" but said the latest one required some help. She said: "[Myself and the designer] tried to reach for something weird and wonderful".
Family life
The pair have spoken about their lives in previous interviews, such as Lily discussing how her life has changed in recent years whilst on This Morning this week.
She said: "My life's changed so much in the last few years. I'm four years clean and sober. I've got a new husband and we're sort of making new lives for ourselves in America."
David has spoken on several occasions about having become a step-parent to Lily's daughters Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10 - whom she shares with her ex-husband Sam Cooper.
As reported by OK!, the actor told the Times in an interview last year: "I've learned a lot about myself. You really have to show up for other human beings in a truly selfless way."
Discussing the couple's life together, a source told Us Weekly last year: "[Lily and David are] best friends who can have as much fun chilling in front of the TV or baking with the kids together as they can on any five-star night out."
The source said they enjoy the "pure and meaningful things in life," adding: "They read a lot, love experiencing new places and adventures together, work out hard and play games."
The couple document their lives on Instagram, including having posted about holidays together, attending red carpet events and supporting each other in their careers.
