Kyogo has revealed he picked himself up from his Japan World Cup snub by penning an emotional entry in his diary - signing it off "Hail Hail."
The firing Celtic striker was overlooked by Hajime Moriyasu for Qatar despite netting 11 goals before the break and he learned he hadn't made the cut on the eve of their trip to face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. But if it got to him, he didn't show it, starting their thumping in Madrid before signing off for the break with back-to-back goals against Dundee United and Motherwell.
Kyogo has been the subject of a documentary in his homeland chronicling his second season in Glasgow and a version including English subtitles has now emerged online. In one, Kyogo reveals to the camera that he keeps a diary he writes every night, usually filled with motivational messages to keep his spirits up. And while he was initially reluctant to show the cameras what he writes, he revealed what he jotted down on the day he was snubbed by Moriyasu for the World Cup.
He wrote: "This experience will definitely make me stronger. A lot of people support me. That's why I'll be forward-looking, grow up, let our team win with my goal. I want to be a player who can turn the tide under difficult circumstances.
"I want to cheer up our team, fans, supporters, with my goal. I want to be that kind of player. If Japanese national team have accident, I will simulate it so that I can play for the team at any time. And I'll keep doing great and score goals.
"We have a big game against Real Madrid tomorrow. It's a very important game. I can play against the best opponent at the best stadium. I'm really looking forward to it and so excited.
"Anyway, I enjoy football and continue to run towards my dream. I believe in myself and our team. I'll definitely score goals and make everyone smile. Thank you again for today. Hail Hail."
