Johnny Depp had a whale of a time out on the Toon as he celebrated his winning verdict in the Amber Heard case.
The Aquaman actress was found guilty of defaming her ex-husband with her op-ed in the Washington post and ordered to pay $15 million in damages.
Amber was in the US to hear the announcement in court, but Johnny was letting off steam in Newcastle with his musician pals Jeff Beck and Sam Bender.
Night out on the Toon
Pics of the father-of-two in The Bridge Tavern in Newcastle emerged before the verdict was announced.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor was rumoured to be in the city ahead of an appearance on stage with guitarist Jeff in Gateshead on Thursday.
Seventeen Going Under singer Sam confirmed the sighting, posting a pic of himself, Johnny and Jeff in the boozer with pints of what looked like Newcastle Brown ale.
He captioned the snap: "Some serious heroes."
Rugby player Gary Spedding also bumped into the Edward Scissorhands star and shared a shot of the actor shaking hands with a fan.
He captioned the post: "Met Johnny Depp in Bridge Tavern Newcastle just now... that was quite surreal.
"I'm so pleased he's in my home town of Newcastle able to relax, celebrate and enjoy himself."
Gary's post has since gone viral with hundreds of Johnny's fans asking him what the star was like.
Tucking into fish and chips
While at the pub, the actor met the boozer's manager Janine Latchford and chatted to a barmaid about her baby bump.
Johnny reportedly told the mum-to-be how much he loved becoming a parent.
The proud dad shares daughter Lily-Rose and Jack with French signer Vanessa Paradis.
Janine said the seasoned star was "the loveliest man ever" and revealed he even sampled some traditional British fayre.
"He came in with Jeff Beck but he was quite subtle about it - so he was able to get some food on the terrace and we could give him some privacy before the crowds arrived," she told Chronicle Live.
“He was incredible. He gave me a hug and I told him that I loved him pretty much as soon as I saw him."
“He was having fish and chips - he said the food was amazing.”
Starstruck punters
Janine added that Johnny had never been to Newcastle before, but he looked like he was enjoying all the city had to offer.
Another starstruck punter revealed: “He was here enjoying a soft drink. Sam Fender was chilling with him. I felt sheer excitement. He wasn’t disguising himself, he was just smiling.”
Johnny reportedly left just before the verdict and headed off for a Zoom call to America as he was "mobbed" by fans.
Later, he was said to be celebrating his victory in the Jam Jar bar in the Jesmond area of the city.
The trendy venue is described as a contemporary establishment providing transatlantic comfort food and creative drinking.
Fan reaction
Social media was buzzing with reports the actor had rocked up in the Northern city.
One fan gushed: "Johnny Depp literally sat in a pub in Newcastle drinking with Sam fender on the night the verdict was made! This is the best."
Another said: "Cannot believe that Johnny Depp has just set foot in Jam Jar Jesmond and Bridge Tavern is this a fever dream?"
While a third mused: "Johnny Depp could be anywhere in the world for the verdict to the biggest trial of his life and he's in a pub in Newcastle!"
When the verdict was delivered Johnny issued a statement saying: "“False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me.
"It had already travelled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.
“And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
Fans of the star rushed to support him with many raising a glass in the Hollywood veteran's honour.
Amber, meanwhile, is said to be appealing the jury's decision.
