Inside 'dreamland' new Edwalton estate where community 'has no real problems'

Neighbours have praised a new estate as a 'dreamland' where 'problems don't really exist'. Residents of the newly built Edwalton Chase estate in Edwalton have said that the great location and schools make it the "perfect place for young families".

According to Taylor Wimpey brochures for Edwalton Chase 71 homes will be built on the site, with the majority of them already finished. Land east and west of Melton Road was allocated in Rushcliffe Borough Council's local plan for around 1,500 homes as well as a community centre and other communal facilities.

Locals said that said the estate, which started construction in 2019, had little drawbacks and lots of benefits. Swamy Iyer, 34, who works as a salesman and has lived on Bartholomew Close for two years labelled the estate a "dream" where "problems don't really exist".

"This estate spoils you it is really soft, real problems don't really exist here. I don't think the problems of fuel prices or anything feel real here for people in this bubble. It even has white picket fences, it is a dreamland.

"Perfect place for young families to start out, I cannot fault this it is as good as it gets.

"I have lived in Nottingham, in Sherwood, but this is such a nice place to live - there is everything. The schools are brilliant like Rosecliff nearby and I can get to London for work in two hours on the A46 and then on the M1."

Houses are also being built by at the Edwalton Fields development, built by Bovis Homes off the A606 Melton Road. Rushcliffe Borough council was told in 2019 that it would have to build 13,150 new homes by 2028.C

Tim Dickinson, 27, who is a radiographer and has lived on the street 18 months, said: "It is perfect - the only small issue is the building noise but obviously we expected that. It's a great place to set up and it me and my partner's first home.

"We both go to the Rushcliffe County Park, it is a very nice walk to take the dog on. It's only a ten or 15 minutes drive and you could walk it from here.

"The neighbours are all very nice, I think we are going to stay here for a very long time. In the future it will be a great place to start a family too."

Couple Jess and Sam Trickett, 22 and 23, who run a martial arts school and live on Bartholomew Close said that the estate was "ideal" for young families.

"It's a great place to live, and you have West Bridgford and the city just around the corner. The schools are really good and everyone is really lovely.

"This is our first house. We were always looking for something in this area.

"All of our family wanted us to move and come this way. It is the idea place to move to." Sam added.

More properties are still being built at Edwalton Fields in and around the new Rosecliffe Spencer Academy school in Rose Way. An Aldi supermarket, McDonald's and Costa Coffee drive-through have also opened at a new nearby retail park next to the Wheatcroft Island, on land between the A52 and Landmere Lane.
