Inside Aston Merrygold's lavish wedding - shisha tent, A-List guests and JLS' special role

Aston Merrygold tied the knot in spectacular style with the mum of his two kids, Sarah Louise Richards earlier this month.

The JLS star, 34, pulled out all the stops for the couple's big day in Liverpool and made sure his bandmates had a part to play in the festivities.

Martin Humes was a groomsman, JB officiated the wedding and Oritsé Williams completed the reunion, arriving at the bash with his then fiancée Kazz Kumar.

Sarah, who shares sons Grayson, four, and Macaulay, two with Aston, looked stunning as she walked down the aisle wearing a gown by designer Dana Harel, which featured a veil with a train embroidered with the words, “You will always be my forever”.

But this wasn't the only dress the bride wore.

The dancer later changed into a second wedding dress, seen in pics in OK! magazine– a silk gown from Halfpenny London.

Despite looking beautiful, Sarah arrived an hour late to meet her man due to traffic, with Aston admitting he had to had a swig of rum from a JB's hip flask.

“It proved to be very handy with Sarah being late,” Aston teased OK.

The couple's guests, including Marvin's wife Rochelle, Alesha Dixon, Louis Smith and Kimberly Wyatt, were provided with a single tissue “For your happy tears”, as the bride walked down the aisle to Usher’s Something Special.

Aston admitted he was overcome with emotion when he he first saw Sarah, revealing he was "gobsmacked" by how beautiful she looked.

After the ceremony, the gang were treated to a drinks reception of prosecco and Pan-Asian canapés at Liverpool's stunning Palm House in the city’s Sefton Park.

They then enjoyed a sumptuous spread before the speeches.

"I was all set to be the fun uncle for Marv and Roch and JB and Chlo and I didn’t think marriage and kids were for me, but then I met you," Aston told his bride.

Marvin then paid tribute to his "talented" pal with Aston saying: "All the boys are special to me – Sarah and I met because of JLS. Our paths may never have crossed otherwise. I’m so grateful they were there to witness the day.”

The festivities were paused at 8pm for a minute’s silence in memory of the Queen the night before her funeral, with guests bowing their heads to pay their respects.

As the speeches drew to a close, tepees with cushions and popcorn were set up for the kids to enjoy while a shisha tent provided some R&R for the grown-ups.

Having had time to chill out, guests then hit the dance floor for an R'n'b medley - where Britain's Got Talent's Alesha Dixon was said to be the first to get her groove on.

As the evening drew to a close, the newlyweds retired to their suite in the Titanic Hotel.

Revealing they felt surprisingly fresh afterwards, Aston joked: “Our guests were worse. A few of them walked past us the next day with their heads down and some people booked in for another night at the hotel as they needed to recover.”
