Injury rules Shivam Dube out of Vijay Hazare Trophy

MUMBAI: In a big blow to Mumbai, experienced allrounder Shivam Dube was on Thursday ruled out of the league stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy after he was injured while bowling in the nets at Ranchi.

Dube was replaced in the Mumbai squad by allrounder Khizer Dafedar, who had recently been named as the vice-captain of the Mumbai Under-25 for the BCCI's U-25 tournament in Rajkot.

Mumbai, who clinched the Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy for the first time earlier this month, play their first game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Bengal on Saturday.

Dube, who has played 13 T20Is and 1 ODI for India, had scored 186 runs in 10 games@62.00, at a strike rate of 124.00, and also taken 8 wickets with his medium pace bowling @22.87 to play a key role in Mumbai's Mushtaq Ali triumph. The unlucky Dube had also been ruled out of the knockouts of the Ranji Trophy in June due to a shoulder injury.

Dafedar, a leg-spinning allrounder, played one T20 for Mumbai, back in January 2018.
