One of the gunmen behind the mass shooting at Bondi Beach was reportedly investigated over his ties to a Sydney-based Islamic State (IS) terror cell.
Naveed Akram first came to the attention of authorities in Australia in October 2019. However Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed an “assessment was made that there was no indication of any ongoing threat or threat of him engaging in violence”.
