Hey, did Kody Clemens learn a thing or two from one of the greatest pitchers in MLB history?
The Detroit Tigers infielder who’s also the son of Roger Clemens has pitched six times in 2022, giving up three runs in six innings, which isn’t great.
But at least he can say he struck out Shohei Ohtani.
Called upon to pitch in Monday’s 10-0 Los Angeles Angels blowout, Clemens threw a 68 MPH pitch that hit the low outside corner to nail Ohtani. And Clemens — rightfully so! — was so pumped and asked for the ball to be saved for him.
What a fun, great moment:

More from Clemens
Kody Clemens got his 1st career K against Ohtani:
"I'm just trying to get outs, and for it to come like that is obviously super cool. He's the best player in baseball. So it's a pretty cool moment for me."
He said he might try & get it signed by Ohtani tomorrow, then frame it.

And both players had to watch it again:

Kody Clemens badly wanted a strikeout for all the pitching work he has had to do this season. His first K victim is Shohei Ohtani. Now 4671 strikeouts shy of his dad’s career total. https://t.co/XfCfF0aDh7
