Infantino critic who accused him of ‘deception’ leaves Fifa

  • Fifa has confirmed that Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lamour left the organisation on 17 August 2026, concluding his two-year tenure with football's global governing body.
  • Lamour's departure comes shortly after he publicly criticised Fifa president Gianni Infantino , accusing him of “deceiving” staff regarding the now-abandoned Fifa Forward Enterprise proposal.
  • The 46-year-old official had previously demonstrated his opposition to the project by voting against the proposal during a high-level meeting on 18 July, the day before the World Cup final.
  • Speaking to the Associated Press on 31 July, Lamour acknowledged that speaking out against Infantino's leadership could cost him his job, stating he was prepared to accept the consequences.
  • Fifa Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom officially notified staff of Lamour's exit via email, with the governing body thanking him for his service while declining to offer further comment.
