New Delhi: The government should consider a support programme of Rs 5,000-7,000 crore to ensure the country's self-reliance in agrochemical technicals and intermediates and offset China's cost advantage, the industry body Agro Chem Federation of India (ACFI) said in a report on Sunday.
The report, prepared with consultancy KPMG, proposed a seven-to-eight-year programme, including two to three years for plant commissioning, followed by sustained production support.
