Dozens of firefighters have contained a large factory blaze in Melbourne's west, the second in as many weeks.

More than 80 firefighters were called on Saturday morning to a fire at a plastic shipping pallet factory in Deer Park.

The blaze at the 100x50 metre factory has since been contained and five people were safely evacuated from a different building on the industrial site, according to Fire Rescue Victoria.

"There (are) no signs of any foul play," incident controller Craig Williams said, adding there were no details on the cause while the fire investigators were still working.

It is the second factory fire in west Melbourne for the month after an explosion at a Derrimut factory on July 10 which leaked potentially toxic pollutants into local waterways.

Mr Williams was asked during a press conference on Saturday whether there are ongoing concerns about chemical storage after both incidents.

But the incident controller said there are none and that Fire Rescue Victoria worked with agency partners, including the Environment Protection Authority, and the government to oversee safe storage of chemicals.

There are no risks to the community from the Deer Park blaze and no concerns about run off.
