INDORE: In tandem with the Covid spurt in neighbouring Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh's worst Corona-affected district, Indore, is seeing a similar spike in infections - a near threefold jump in new cases in 24 houses and positivity rate above 10% for the first time in four months.
As per Indore health department's records, the district reported 17 new cases on Tuesday, up from six the previous day. More worryingly, Indore's positivity rate jumped from 5.71% to 10.37% within 24 hours.
The city has 75 active cases, nearly a third of MP's count. Though Indore's vaccination drive was impressive, exceeding its target, what's worrying the administration and health officials is the abysmally low precaution dose coverage.
"There are a considerable number of people who have not yet taken their precaution dose," said Indore chief medical and health officer Dr BS Saitya, advising people to wear masks, maintain social distance and immediately get tested for Covid if there is any symptom of cold, fever and breathlessness.
