Indonesia: You can now stay in Bali with a 10 year visa! Know how

Indonesia is making all efforts to attract wealthy foreigners to the country, emphasising on long-term stays in Bali and other destinations.

For this, Indonesia has introduced Second Home Visa program, which will allow foreign tourists to stay and work in the country for 5 to 10 years. However, there is a catch! If reports are to go by, the new ‘visa of five years and 10 years will be available for those who possess at least 2 billion rupiah ($130,000) in their bank accounts.

Reports have it that the policy will come into effect on Christmas. Referring to this, acting Director General for Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana, during a launch ceremony in the resort island, stated that this is a non-fiscal incentive for certain foreigners who will be capable enough to make a positive contribution to the Indonesian economy.

With this, Indonesia also joins the likes of countries like Costa Rica and Mexico that are offering long-term stays to lure professionals, retirees, and other wealthy people.

Indonesia also launched plans for a digital nomad visa in 2021, which focussed on attracting visitors to Bali. This popular tourist destination began to gradually reopen to international tourists on October 14 last year, while the Indonesian Government has been looking to boost the local economy further by removing restrictions and adding more perks for travellers.

As reported earlier, the Indonesian Government lifted most of its travel restrictions and implemented a quarantine-free trial period and a Visa On Arrival (VOA) scheme on March 7, 2022, for 72 nations, including India.
