Large flat-screen TVs, air conditioners, exercise equipment, couches, and freezers were among the furnishings and appliances that were removed from the Cibinong Prison in Bogor, close to Jakarta's capital. On Wednesday, some of the prison's structures were dismantled.

The facility is one of the most densely packed. After an investigative committee from the government's Ombudsman office reported discovering opulent amenities during a surprise visit on September 23, it has come under close examination.

Sugiat Santoso, the deputy commission chairman said the building should be demolished with an immediate effect to avoid the further misuse.

The discovery of the deluxe facility has sparked off a renewed debate over Indonesian jails, where it has long been alleged that people with money or influential people can buy their way to better treatment.
