IndiGo plane lands safely at Kolkata airport after 'false' smoke warning in aircraft

NEW DELHI: An IndiGo flight sought priority landing in Kolkata on Sunday after the pilots got a cargo smoke warning.

The aircraft landed safely and the alarm turned out to be a false one.

"IndiGo Airbus A320NEO (VT-IJA) operating as 6E-2513 from Delhi to Kolkata on Sunday had a false cargo smoke warning prior to landing. The pilot followed their standard operating procedure and prioritised landing at Kolkata. Post arrival necessary inspections were carried out. The warning was confirmed as spurious. Necessary rectifications on the detection system are in progress," an IndiGo spokesperson said.
