The Animal Itself
Python molurus can reach six metres in length and weigh over 90 kilograms. That makes it the largest snake in India and, by mass, one of the four heaviest snakes on Earth, behind only the reticulated python, the green anaconda, and the Burmese python. Adults are unmistakable: a pale buff or yellowish body patterned with large, irregular brown blotches that darken toward the spine, a heat-sensing pit on either side of the jaw, and a prehensile tail strong enough to anchor the snake in a tree while it waits.
