The Indianapolis Colts Week 9 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings has been flexed into primetime and will be played on Sunday night, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
As a result, the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles matchup will now be played at 4:05 PM ET on CBS.
This will be only the second primetime game of the season for the Colts. Prior to this game being flexed, they had only one non-afternoon game on the schedule when they face the New York Jets on Sunday night in Week 11.
This will be Anthony Richardson’s first primetime game of his career.
Although it hasn’t always been pretty, the Colts now find themselves at 4-3 on the season and are just one game back of the Houston Texans–who they play this Sunday–in the AFC South race.
The Vikings, meanwhile, are 5-1 on the season, having just suffered their first loss to Detroit, who won the game on a last season field goal.
Minnesota will enter Week 8 as one of the highest scoring offenses in football, while their blitz and disguise heavy defense under Brian Flores also ranks top-10 in points per game allowed on that side of the ball.
For a Colts team that, overall, has been inconsistent, the Vikings will provide a good test and opportunity to truly see where Indianapolis stands.
