The Indianapolis Colts will travel to New York in Week 17 to face the Giants in what will be the 21st regular season meeting between these two teams.
With the Colts win this past Sunday, along with receiving some help from Cincinnati and Miami, Indianapolis’ was able to keep their playoff hopes alive for at least one more week.
However, as I’m sure you can imagine, those playoff hopes are slim and in addition to needing to win out, the Colts will need their share of help from a few other teams as well.
The Colts’ offense is coming off a performance where they set a single-game franchise record in rushing yards. And while that level of production obviously isn’t going to happen each week, what that game did show us is the value of having a strong running game to lean on.
It’s not a coincidence that paired with the run game was an efficient performance from Anthony Richardson and an effective third down offense. As we know and have seen, particularly since Richardson’s return, success for this offense starts on the ground and then opens up everything else.
Awaiting the Colts this week is a Giants team with only two wins this season–the fewest in football-and New York is currently riding a 10-game losing streak.
