An Indiana divorce case has drawn attention to how courts handle retirement savings withdrawn by one spouse before a marriage formally ends. Clifford Dale Hunt withdrew $220,823.33 from his retirement account without his wife Valerie Hunt’s knowledge shortly before filing for divorce in 2023. The dispute later reached the Indiana Court of Appeals, where Valerie challenged the division of their marital property and the calculation of unpaid child support. In a decision issued on 23 March 2026, the appellate court upheld the trial court’s ruling on both issues.
