Indian restaurant in Bristol to close after 30 years due to cost of living crisis

A family-run restaurant has announced it will permanently close after almost 30 years citing the cost of living as the cause. Al’s Tikka Grill, situated in Ashton Gate, is a bring-your-own-booze curry house that has been serving Indian cuisine to the local Bristol community since 1994.

Rising costs including energy bills, wages and ingredients are threatening businesses in the hospitality industry in Bristol and across the country. It means many restaurants, cafés, bars and pubs will struggle to survive the incrementing pressures.

The south Bristol restaurant and takeaway - fronted by Ali Bandali and his family - is open six days a week and has a cover of 46. It shares the space on Ashton Road with the Hungry Bite Café, which has confirmed it will remain open as normal.
