Indian friends leave German traveller emotional with incredible support after she loses credit card: “I didn’t have to worry even for a second”

We hear the line “a friend in need is a friend indeed” all the time. But for a German traveller in India, that old saying turned out to be very real.

In a now-viral video shared on Instagram by @jennijigermany, the creator talks about a stressful moment during her trip when she realised she had lost her credit card. Stuck far from home and suddenly without money, she reached out to her Indian friends - and what happened next restored a little faith in humanity.

The video shows Jennifer sharing screenshots of her chats with friends as they jumped in to help. One friend immediately asked for her bus details and offered to pay for her ticket. Another told her she could stay at their place for as long as she needed. Someone else even offered to arrange cash through their father if things got tight.

One message that really stood out came from her friend Ashish Gupta, who sent her his UPI ID and told her to use it anytime she needed, no questions asked. Another friend gently reminded her to block her lost card, making sure she was safe on all fronts.

Basically, she wasn’t alone for even a minute.

In her caption, Jennifer wrote, “Based on a true story. I’ve never experienced more help than in India. All of my friends made sure I was financially okay to finish my trip (of course, I paid them back), but honestly, I didn’t even have to worry for a second. This kind of backup system is incredible.”

The comments section quickly filled up with people appreciating the kindness on display.

“Indian hospitality is unmatched. So glad everything worked out for you, Jenny,” one user wrote.

Another added, “That’s what real friends do. When you’re in trouble, they show up. Nationality doesn’t matter at all.”

Moments like these are small, but they stick with you. Losing a card in a foreign country can be scary. Having people show up for you, without overthinking it, makes all the difference.
