Indian challengers Vidit, Raunak regain lead with contrasting wins over Svidler, Short

NAGPUR: Saturday saw the return of Indian youngsters Vidit Gujrathi and Raunak Sadhwani in their Challenger Match of Maharashtra chess festival.

While Vidit took just 23 moves to outclass eight-time Russian champion Peter Svidler with his white pieces, Maharashtra's youngest Grandmaster Raunak Sadhwani defended well with the black pieces to get the better of his mentor Nigel Short in 41 moves and garner full three points.
