NEW DELHI: In a major blow to India's prospects in Australia, pace ace Mohammed Shami has not been included due to his knee injury for the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month. The selectors have been forced to pick an inexperienced pace attack in the 18-member team announced on Friday.
Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will be the pace spearhead and will have Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana for support. Seam-bowling allrounder Nitish Reddy has been included as the management wants someone who can bat at No. 7 or 8 and also play the role of a fourth seamer in Australian conditions.
