India was the world's sixth-largest economy in 2025-26, with a nominal gross domestic product of $3.92 trillion, according to the International Monetary Fund's April 2026 World Economic Outlook, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said the IMF ranking was based on nominal GDP measured at prevailing US dollar exchange rates and could change depending on factors including economic growth, currency movements, prices, revisions to national accounts and the performance of other major economies.
