Indian government bonds tumbled early Monday, as escalating U.S.-Iran tensions drove oil prices higher, pressuring the rupee and prompting traders to cut positions in bonds.
The benchmark 6.94% 2036 bond yield rose nearly 5 basis points to 6.828% by 11:55 a.m. IST, the highest in nearly a month, from Friday's close of 6.7799%. The rupee weakened 0.25% to 96.52 per dollar.
