Stephen Warnock has hailed the ‘incredible job’ Mikel Arteta is doing at Arsenal after their 1-0 victory at Aston Villa on Saturday left them in pole position to secure fourth spot. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the game to leave the Gunners four points clear of fifth placed Manchester United with a game in hand.
The victory at Villa Park was Arsenal’s fifth successive away win in the Premier League, the first time they’ve achieved that particular feat in seven years. Their sensational form is a far cry from their disastrous start to the campaign that saw Arteta’s side sit bottom of the table after losing their opening three games.
The Spaniard was forced to endure a heavy amount of criticism from fans and pundits alike in the early days of the season, especially given the club spent around £150 million on the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Martin Odegaard in the summer. However, Arteta has managed to turn the club’s fortunes around and the Gunners are strong favourites to secure their first top four finish since 2016.
