Newcastle United are close to securing the first of many summer signings as a deal moves closer for highly-rated Gambian teenager Yankuba Minteh.
The Odense Boldklub youngster, 18, has been on the Magpies' radar for some time after impressing in Denmark, just months after making the switch from his native Africa. The winger has registered six goals and four assists in 17 senior appearances for the club and was left out of the squad for last weekend's clash with FC Midtjylland as a transfer nears completion.
Minteh's arrival signifies the new transfer stance on Tyneside, with sporting director Dan Ashworth keen to repeat successful tactics from his time at Brighton. Ashworth has proven to have a keen eye for young prospects in the most obscure leagues around the world.
