PUNE: There has been an uptick in Covid-19 hospitalisations within PMC limits.
Some 96 patients are currently admitted, from a total of 2,544 active cases. Seven patients are on oxygen support, officials said on Wednesday, but not a single patient is on ventilator support.
Data released by the PMC also showed that most of the new cases are among those who have taken two doses of the vaccine and in the age brack of 31-40. The positivity rate in the city, as of Wednesday, was nearly 24%.
Dr Sanjeev Wavare, the PMC’s assistant health Officer said the number of serious patients is “still in control”.
He said, “We have no patients on ventilator support. There are seven patients on oxygen beds. Most of the hospitalised patients on non-oxygen beds are in care only for the purpose of isolation.”
Through follow-ups with patients, health officials were able to create age and vaccination profiles of the caseload.
From the active cases, 552 people are aged between 31-40 years of age, 344 are between 21 and 30 and 343 are between 41-50 years of age. A total of 1,076 are women.
The vaccination status of 786 patients is also known — 704 had taken both doses, 11 had taken only the first dose while 71 had not taken a single shot. Health experts have urged people, especially senior citizens, to take their Covid booster shots.
Statewide, infection trends indicate a largely mild Covid-19. Despite the recent increase, data shows numbers are still well below levels from December last year, when the third wave had started.
