CROWDS gathered in Glasgow today for both the STUC’s annual St Andrew’s Day rally and a pro-Palestine demonstration.
The First Minister (below) addressed the latter where he made a call to “rededicate ourselves to anti-racism and anti-fascism”.
Meanwhile, crowds also gathered outside the Buchanan Galleries for a pro-Palestine demonstration.
It comes as the second day of a ceasefire in the Middle East got underway to allow critical humanitarian aid into the Gaza strip.
There was also a good turnout at the STUC’s rally where the crowd marched from Glasgow Green to the University of Strathclyde.
The march was led by Scottish labour leader Anas Sarwar, STUC general-secretary Roz Foyer and SNP MSP Kaukab Stewart.
Yousaf told those in attendance he would “always raise my voice for those who are facing hatred”.
Foyer said: “Our St Andrew’s Day march and rally is Scotland’s national demonstration against racism and fascism, sending a clear message to those who spread their hatred and bile that they will not divide us.
“Now more than ever, the trade union movement stands solidly beside those facing discrimination and persecution.”
