In peak narcissist fashion, Donald Trump dodges questions on Iran’s death toll, instead bragging about his ‘lovely’ ballroom

Donald Trump isn’t particularly good at talking about topics that don’t interest him. It’s clear he’s most engaged when he’s talking about himself and how great he thinks he is which is why, at a recent event meant to honor the soldiers who have lost their lives in Iran so far, he steered the conversation towards his White House ballroom project.

As of writing, six U.S. soldiers have been killed in the conflict in Iran, a conflict that the president dragged the country into without the approval of congress, making it yet another illegal action on Trump’s part. Trump got in front of the podium to speak about the war in Iran during Sunday’s Medal of Honor ceremony but he was unable to stay on topic for long.

Despite the somber nature of the ceremony, Trump began cracking jokes and talking about his beloved ballroom. He pointed out the “nice drape” on the wall which he picked out himself. They are an expensive looking cloth and they have all the hallmarks of Trump’s style: tacky, over-the-top, and of course, gold, Trump loves his gold. The drapes match the aesthetic of the rest of the White House since Trump began redecorating.

The golden curtains are hiding the work being done on the president’s expensive ballroom which is another huge waste of money. Trump goes on to joke about his wife not enjoying the noise of the workers building the huge extension before going on to claim it will be “the most beautiful ballroom.”

Trump values his ballroom above American lives

The bizarre tangent at the memorial event naturally left a sour taste in the mouths of all who saw it. It’s hardly appropriate to boast about a lavish ballroom set to cost around $400 million (or under $400 million as Trump boasts) when the event was supposed to be in commemoration of the soldiers who have died and likely will die in the president’s illegal war.

“Focusing on gold curtains instead of lives makes it hard to take his leadership seriously.” wrote one angry individual on X. “I hope he’s impeached and removed from office.” added another.

Of course, there are still the brainless Trump supporters who continue to glaze him. Some think that his inappropriate tangent somehow makes him “authentic and relatable.” In reality this just shows how seriously lacking in empathy Donald Trump truly is. He’s already lost some of his more loyal supporters in the past few days and it seems he simply doesn’t care. His lovely hand-picked curtains for his pointless ballroom are more important to him than the soldiers he’s sending out there to die.
