In Colorado 3rd District race, Adam Frisch raised more money than Lauren Boebert between July and September

DENVER — For much of her first reelection campaign, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert enjoyed a wide financial lead ahead of her Republican and Democratic challengers — often holding more money than all of them combined — but her margin is shrinking.

The most recent batch of campaign finance reports, filed Friday, show that Boebert’s Democratic challenger, Adam Frisch, raised nearly twice as much money as the incumbent congresswoman.

Between July and September Frisch raised nearly $1.7 million to Boebert’s $936,000, Federal Election Commission data shows. Frisch still lags behind Boebert in the bigger fundraising (and spending) picture but he’s gaining steam, the recent campaign finance reports show.

All told, Boebert, of Silt, has raised $6.3 million and spent $4.7 million, the reports show. Frisch, of Aspen, has raised $4.3 million and spent $3.6 million.

Frisch’s financial momentum is picking up just as county clerks are mailing ballots to voters, less than a month ahead of the Nov. 8 election. His campaign has also boasted the endorsements of Boebert’s failed primary challenger, state Sen. Don Coram and others.

The former Aspen City Council member is sharing two new polls to underscore his progress. The first, released Oct. 4, shows Frisch as statistically tied with Boebert. That poll, from Keating Research, gave Boebert ahead of Frisch 47% to 45%. But with a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points, the poll indicates that the two candidates were evenly matched.

Another poll from Center Street political action committee, released Oct. 13, indicated that 45% of Colorado registered voters prefer Frisch over 40% preferring Boebert. The Center Street poll, however, is not wholly indicative of Frisch’s recent gains. Less than a fifth of the people polled by the committee actually live in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District and are able to vote in the race.

Despite Frisch financial success and endorsements, the political analysts at FiveThirtyEight still give Boebert a 97% chance of winning a second term in office.
