NEW DELHI: October emerged as the biggest month ever for crypto hacking activities as over $718 million has been stolen from decentralized finance protocols so far this month, according to data analysed by blockchain specialist Chainalaysis.
This takes the gross tally for 2022 past $3 billion already, putting the year on course to be a record for the total value hacked. Most of the targets are DeFi protocols, which deploy software-based algorithms to enable crypto investors to trade, borrow and lend on digital ledgers without using a central intermediary.
